Reduced to a Twittering idiot addict

When I got my Blackberry, everyone said to me: “It’ll ruin your life — you’ll never get a moment’s peace”.

Now that I no longer have the Blackberry — I had to give it back this week, and it hadn’t been working for almost 10 days before that — I’m suffering withdrawal symptoms.

Far from it never giving me a moment’s peace, I never gave the world a moment’s peace.

First there is the marvellous little QWERTY keyboard with its positive clicks which is much easier to use than an ill-defined touch screen, not to mention surfing the web on the go unhindered by a stupid WAP browser and frustrating predictive text (even better using the Opera Mini mobile client).

Then there’s the ability to carry on IM conversations via MSN and Yahoo and Google Chat and collect emails on the move, all at the same time using the same interface.

But the real revelation for me has been TwitterBerry, a great little ap which allowed me to post to my Twitter account at almost any time (great on those morning commutes into Charing Cross) and really opened up the account I’ve held for almost two years.

The good news (for me at least) is that I’ll soon be getting another Blackberry all of my very own to replace the shiny Samsung Touchy that I’ve fallen so much out of love with.

So if you’ve been following me on Twitter (and I’m amazed how many do) and you’re wondering why I’m not posting like I used to, now you know.

Normal service should resume soon.
